I have to make this short so I can cook food byproducts.

Post keywords: job, JavaScript, marketing, MBA, recognizing people from here on other sites, your mom.

Whelp... after many years of doing this crap on my own... I picked up a day gig at Microsoft (via Volt).  I have a lot to learn...

Also: I think I had the swine flu.

Lastly, it is raining here in Seattle, yet  I must walk to the grocery store, W.W.J.D?

This, and any derivative communities are just crying to be trolled to hell and back.

The premise? Since we all know meat is murder and since clearly capitalism is evil, we should all get our food from dumpsters.  Rather than go with the old school term "dumpster diving", these hip young fellas have coined a more PC term, "Freeganism".

...Short post, but I had to do the poll.

Nuts.  Just found out about trhurler.

I fondest internet memories were jabbing him as Dr. Cortez.  Nothing is better than calling him Trevor Hurler or Dr. Tobias Raymond Hurler.

I find it amazing that only in his death do we learn of his real name.  He managed to keep his online persona well hidden, even after 19,239 comments, 6 stories and 280 diaries.

Print Story FreeBSD & Me

Last week I acquired a Sun Sunfire V100.  It was to be used as a radius server, but the company that owned it never panned out.  It is several years old, but the machine was powered on for a few hours during its life.

Aside from that, life has been too busy with contract work to improve my own product - which needs some capital to properly market it and pay my friend for a logo and website graphics.

Inside, a boring unstructured, unedited computer-nerd diatribe....

I really am starting to wonder if FSF is backed by some kookie socialist organization the same way most "protests" I see in downtown Seattle are, ultimately, backed by things like the Socalist Workers Party.

A small, unstructured mind->print rant inside.

Ingredients:

one Hax0red SuSE box
one copy of PuTTy
two (2) open SSH sessions
fresh gentoo binaries

  • Start by logging into your hax0red box
  • Using the binaries, liberally apply tar, bzip2, emerge and gcc
  • In a seperate bowl, compile the source of one linux kernel, being sure to leave no modules in the bowl.
  • Combine your kernel and binaries
  • Use your text editor to slightly combine your servers IP, default gateway, and dns servers
  • Cross fingers, start pinging your server, pray and reboot.
If your pings start working again, enjoy your new Gentoo (tm) brand operating system!

Print Story Please tell me there is a better way...
Spent literally three non-stop days with the site down.  Turns out Rose::DB needed weak references, which wasn't supported in the version of perl that is installed by Susu 9.1  Fuckers.  Well, actually I'm the fucker.  I knew that running different OS versions on dev & production would equal pain eventually.

...  the answer is version control.  The question is how.
